Comparative Mysticism (عرفان تطبیقی), Qom, Imam Khomeini Educational and Research Institute, 2022.
The preface of this book states: Familiarity with other mystical traditions and conducting comparative studies is not only inherently valuable and beneficial but also deepens one’s understanding of the specific mystical tradition to which one belongs. Moreover, comparative study can create a platform for constructive and meaningful dialogue among followers of various mystical paths—a dialogue that can help dispel misunderstandings, reduce tensions, and foster mutual understanding among adherents of different religions.
This work, organized into six chapters, introduces and examines five major mystical traditions: Hindu mysticism, Buddhist mysticism, Jewish mysticism, Christian mysticism, and Islamic mysticism. The last chapter is devoted to a brief examination of modern mystical/pseudo mystical movements. The book not only presents the essential teachings of these mystical traditions but also offers critical evaluations of them.
